Mission: All Our Yesterdays
Location: Main Conference Room

After detemining that more and more younger duplicates of the crew were indeed appearing now at random across the entire starbase. Kagami pulled together the senior staff for an emergency meeting in the main conference room. It was time to try and work out why their younger selves were suddenly appearing alongside them and fcome up with a solution.

Luckily everyone had gathered pretty quickly, and their counterparts were being watched in the adjacent room with activities to do.

"So, it seems like we have a few guests. And its our younger selves huh?" Kagami asked as she looked around the table of her staff. "

Joseph gave a shake of his head that caused his ears to flap a bit. Gently he spoke "I don't, but look at how young he is.. I would be surprised if I could remember... He is young and, lets be honest, scared..." He worried about his younger self, knowing how afraid of his own shadow he had been. Which was no wonder considering he had grown up on his mothers ship, the Veroto, which had been in so many fights, not to mention the Borg boarding at one point to take the man he called uncle back.

"Nope." Jane shook her head. "I would have remembered that time as a teenager I stumbled upon a holodeck in my grandmother's attic while we were helping to sell the house and met a woman I thought was my big sister who was kept secret from me."

“Strange, one hasn’t turned up yet for me, maybe soon.” Thor commented and happy about it so far.

"At this rate, we're going to have to get the Department of Temporal Investigations involved," Maki lamented. "Some headache that's gonna be..."

"At least none of you have been duplicated in a transporter accident to further complicate things." Jane sighed. "At least that any of you are aware of..."

“There’s no sign of my younger self either as of yet” Marina added. “Which I’m seriously glad about. Where are these younger selves coming from?”

Thor had to think on it for a few moments. “Since none of you have no recollection of being here before, perhaps it’s not temporal. That’s just an opinion.”

“Wait a minute…” Marina frowned. “If it’s not temporal, then what? Someone or something that’s looked inside our heads and decided to have fun creating our younger selves? Why only a few people and not everyone? Why not our older selves? It’s so crazy!”

"Starting to feel that way..." Maki sighed.

That’s when a teenager wearing Klingon clothes appeared. He looked around and luckily his hair was covering his ears, it only took a second for the shock to wear off. The teen went into a Klingon defense stance. “Where am I?” He began and when his eyes landed on Thorillo, they stuck. It looked like he was assessing if he knew Thor or not.

"Oh, God help us..." Maki sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.

Thor slowly stood. “I stand corrected,” he said to those around him. “You are safe, no one will hurt you boy.” Thor told his younger self, exactly the age he had met Worf back on his colony and faced with the choice of staying or leaving to explore either the Klingon Empire or Federation.

Younger Thorillo backed off a step and another one. “Why are you with these Federation petaQ?”

“Boy, calm down. The Empire and Federation are allies.” Thor stated with practiced patience. He slowly took steps closer. “You are safe here,” he hoped his colleagues would back him up and but he had to keep his eyes on his younger self for he used to have quite the fight reflex and could get hurt.

Kagami let out a sigh and raised a hand to her forehead. "So, basically, what we have is absolutely nothing?" she asked.

"We probably would, if we had some dedicated temporal physicists around here," Maki lamented. "Best We can probably do is start tossing theories around until we get a halfway decent explanation of... well, this," she indicated to the younger Thor for effect. "Otherwise, we may just have to wait until the DTI gets here to try and figure this out..."

Thor was now behind his younger self and holding onto the younger’s shoulders. “Let’s not count ourselves out just yet, an array of scans of our younger selves by both Medical and Sciences should yield something?” He sounded like he didn’t want to meet the Federation department of Temporal Investigations, a true headache. That said he was likely more to understand because he had his Romulan heritage and smarts to fall back on.

“It may be worth contacting starships in our local area to see if they have younger selves?” Thor inquired further.

Kagami nodded. "Lets contact other ships in the area. Work out if this is a localised issue." She replied. "We should also scan around the station. We can use the Kingfishers sensors too, lets see what we can find. There has to be an explanation."

Joseph had been holding his younger self close, the boy being awfully clingy as he was in an unfamiliar area without his parents. The boy clung especially tightly to the elder Joseph when Thor's younger self showed up and began yelling. He sighed softly and looked to the Captain as he spoke "A couple of my pilots have sent in that they too have had younger versions of themselves appear..."

"I'll have the M'oQreH's sensors assist Kingfisher's." Thor added and brought his younger self to sit in his chair at the table. "Stay quiet." He told his younger self from just before he left his colony with Worf, though briefly.

"Ok, sounds like we have a plan. Now, we need to find a way to... entertain our younger selves whilst they are here. Anyone here volunteer for babysitting duty?" Kagami asked.

All eyes in the room immediately turned towards Maki.

"Oh, hell no!" Maki grumbled. "I'm a doctor, not a freakin' entertainer! Even if I was briefly and entertainer!"

Attention in the room then shifted towards Jane.

"What-? No!" Jane refused. "I agreed to show my younger self around only, not be chaperone to everyone else's!"

Joseph and his younger self were still quite close when both Maki and Jane refused vehemently. The younger one folded his little ears back, the voices getting just a tad louder scaring him some. The elder spoke gently to him "It's okay Joey.. Just a small argument. They aren't mad with you.. No need to be scared.." To which the little boy nodded and looked around, his eyes wide as he stared at everyone.

Looking up he spoke "Don't we have a school or something on board this station?"

"Yes we do..." Kagami said. "Although, if this keeps happening it'll soon be over-run. Right now, you are to look after your younger selves whilst you perform your duties. Keep them out of trouble and out of danger. After all, you are them and they are you, so... you should know what they behave like..." Kagami told them all. "Keep them... yourselves... your younger selves... Oh you know what I mean. Entertained; until we can find out whats happening."

The merchant Nark burst into the room. "What the hell is going on? There's so many younger versions of everyone!!" He shouted. "Do something!!"

Behind him was a younger Nark, at least by 15 years, that sighed. "I can't believe I am like this when I get older." He said and gestured at himself. "I am Nark."

"He is better behaved than you are Narky," Thor commented with a bemused smirk.

"Shut up Brute." Nark complained.

Thor grinned then and glanced around the assembled staff. "Everyone I think we have our Caretaker for our younger selves." He stared at the adult Nark.

Nark blanched, his beedy eyes bulged. "Nooo." He forced out.

"All in favour?" Thor called.

The younger Joseph looked to the Ferengi man and shook his head vehemently. Softly he spoke "No... No fewenji..." His tail almost immediately tucking around himself tightly. The elder Joseph also shook his head and spoke "No offense Mr Nark. He is scared of Ferengi. One gave him a really good scare and he hasn't gotten over it yet..." He looked back to Thor and spoke "I'll keep him with me, unless we need the Fighter Squadron sent out for some odd reason."

"With my luck, my younger self would learn something unscrupulous from the Ferengi." Jane remarked. "No offense to Nark, of course, but Ferengi do carry a reputation. I'd feel more comfortable leaving my younger self with Security "

Jane was already thinking of the security breach that just occurred, and how a civilian managed to enter a restricted area. That would be something that would need to be corrected in the future.

Kagami rose to her feet. "We're done here." She said. She looked at the Ferengi. "You know this is a restricted area." She told him, a hint of frustration in her voice. "I'll overlook it this time as you're new here." She turned to her staff. "Dismissed."
